Calling himself a "part-time scriptwriter, full-time storyteller", Raihan's career began after winning two Golden Pen Awards at the MDA National Scriptwriting Competition in 2005 and 2007. His telemovies Yazid Wears Diapers garnered the Best Special Drama while Big Time In Little Street was nominated in 2010 Asian Television Awards. His feature film project, Banting (2014) was met with overwhelming response and was screened at the 34th Hawaii International Film Festival.
For 'Declaration', we were inspired by our friends' courage to remain true to themselves. We hope that through this film, we extend hope to those struggling with their sexuality and demonstrate that love overcomes everything.
Alone in a nursing home, Kang, befriends his upstairs neighbour, Linda, but they have never meet before. Unable to leave his room, Kang’s friendship with Linda is plays out exclusively through their ‘Old Friend’ communication device. After a blackout which results in a break in their telecommunication, Kang has to use the best of his limited sources to locate Linda.
In a future where one has to legally declare their sexuality on their NRIC, Alicia is forced to come out. This causes a rift between Alicia and her mother, as her mother disapproves of her choice but lying to the government faces legal consequences.
